Vanilla Protein Waffles.

Consuming a protein rich breakfast in the morning aids in promoting satiety, increasing feelings of fullness and satisfaction throughout your day, in addition to aiding to stabilise blood glucose levels by slowing down the absorption of glucose (sugar) into the bloodstream. This can prevent energy crashes and improve mood and concentration. Additionally, protein is essential for muscle repair and growth, and having a protein-rich breakfast provides the necessary amino acids to support these processes.
A protein-rich breakfast therefore helps to initiate your metabolic fire for the day, provides sustained energy, and promotes muscle health and satiety throughout the day.

In this recipe I have used eggs which are a complete protein source with all the essential amino acids, in addition to being a nutrient powerhouse with vitamin B12, vitamin D, choline, selenium, lutein and zeaxanthin, and B complex vitamins. In addition to Hemp Foods Australia Organic Hemp Protein, which also contains a complete amino acid profile from utilising organic hulled hemp seeds.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almond meal

  • 2 scoops vanilla hemp protein powder

  • 2 large pasture raised eggs

  • 1/2 cup milk of your choice

  • Desired toppings; I used strawberries, banana, blueberries, sliced almonds, walnuts, hemp seeds and a drizzle of tahini

Method:

  1. Preheat your waffle iron.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the almond meal and vanilla hemp protein powder.

  3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and milk until they are well combined.

  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a smooth batter forms.

  5. Pour 1/3 cup waffle batter onto the preheated waffle iron. Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crispy.

  6. Remove the waffles from the iron and repeat the process with the remaining batter.

  7. Serve your vanilla protein waffles with your favourite toppings, such as fresh fruit, a drizzle of maple syrup, a dollop of Greek yogurt, or a sprinkle of chopped nuts.
