Sleep Enhancing Gummies

These gummies are an incredibly simple snack or dessert to create; I usually always have a batch on hand, and are perfect for all ages, particularly children they are rich in amino acids to support growing bones and joints, in addition to the tart cherry included that functions to increase exogenous melatonin, beneficial in improving sleep duration and quality, in addition to managing disturbed sleep patterns.

Gelatine is a rich source of glycine that functions as an inhibitory (calming) neurotransmitter, slowing down the firing of neurons reducing anxiety and protecting the brain from overstimulation which supports deep, refreshing sleep.

Makes 12-16 gummies

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups tart sour cherry juice (I use @georgiasnaturalorganic)

  • 4 tablespoons organic, grass fed gelatine (I use @nutraviva.au )

  • 1 cup filtered water

  • 1 cup organic mixed berries

  • 1 tsp beetroot powder (optional)

Method:

  • Bloom the gelatine in 1 cup of filtered water (soaking it for 30 minutes until the water is absorbed)

  • Add the mixed berries to a baking dish

  • In a pot, add the tart cherry juice and beetroot powder and heat until simmering, but not boiling.

  • Add in the gelatine, and stir until dissolved.

  • Pour the mixture on-top of the berries, and refrigerate for 3-4 hours or until set.

  • Remove from the dish, cut into cubes and enjoy!

  • Keep the gummies refrigerated and consume within 2 weeks.
