Single Serve Sleepy Chocolate Mug Cake.

This chocolate mug cake is the perfect wind down at the end of your day after dinner, when you don’t feel like baking a whole cake or loaf; indulge in this selfishly delicious single serve option🤎

Tryptophan is required for the production of melatonin which helps to regulate our sleep/wake cycles. Cacao, bananas, collagen, eggs and yoghurt, are all rich sources of tryptophan, which makes this the ultimate sleep inducing mug cake.

Magnesium is also present in cacao, eggs, collagen and Greek yoghurt which plays an important role in initiating GABA, enabling the body and mind to relax, fall asleep, and sleep soundly throughout the night.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe banana

  • 3 tablespoons collagen powder

  • 1 tablespoon cacao powder (or I used Luka drinking chocolate)

  • 1 pasture raised egg

  • Dash of cinnamon

  • Greek yoghurt and chocolate granola to serve

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 180c

  2. In a small bowl, mash the ripe banana.

  3. Add collagen powder, cacao powder, pasture-raised egg, and a dash of cinnamon to the bowl. Mix well until combined.

  4. Distribute the mixture between 2 oven-safe ramekins.

  5. Place the ramekins in the oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cake is set and a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.

  6. Once baked, remove the mug from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.

  7. Serve the chocolate mug cake with a dollop of Greek yogurt and a sprinkle of chocolate granola on top.

  8. Enjoy!
